Vonage V-Phone

I just learned that Vonage has launched a very cool new product. I think it is very promising and if i had to travel a lot it would be a life saver. The new product is called the V-Phone, it’s pretty much a USB thumb drive with a headphone jack (i am not sure if it is 1/8″ or 1/16″ but due to size i bet it’s 1/16″). Everything you need is stored on the thumb drive, all you do is plug it into a computer that has broadband access and you have your instant phone. No more worrying about whether or not you can have your cell phone on or if you are within the signal range. No more costly monthly cell phone bills. The only drawback that i see to this service is that you cannot simply purchase the device and hook it to your current Vonage account. It is it’s own phone pretty much so you have to have a seperate Vonage line for it to work.

If i could simply hook it to my current phone line i would jump and buy one now. However i do not travel enough to logically accept yet another monthly bill. If anyone who is reading this has the device or has tested it out, please post some comments and your thought on the device. I am always looking at the cool new gadgets that hit the market and i feel this will be really nice to have for someone who travels frequently. Unlimited phone calls on the go for $24.99 per month. This will also be good for those who cannot afford to have broadband, you can use this at any WiFi hotspot to check messages, and send/recieve calls. However without 100% broadband access it may not be worth it
