Creation of JBlog
I wanted to announce here that since i will write a custom blog application for my site I will once completed release it as open source. Now because i work full time and have a family development is bound to be slow. I am however going to sit down and plan this on paper so that i can get the flow process down. I am going to map out all of the objects that i plan to use where when how etc. I will keep everyone posted on the development status. My current thoughts are to base it around the Smarty template engine. Yes it bloated but it is powerful and i like using it
The system will have a very easy installation process (hopefully as easy and quick as WordPress). I am going to make it so that you can drop plugins and themes into a directory similar to WordPress. I am not sure WYSIWYG editor i will use yet, i do however like the one i purchased for WordPress which is WysiwygPro. I am not sure how this will work being that my application will be open source, however i will deal with that when the time comes
The costs will be around $497 for me to include that so i may look at some other open source editors and choose one of them to integrate.
If you have any suggestions on what editor i should use, please leave a note in the comments so i can check it out ![]()

Well, if you’re interested, I’m working on a similar project, and we’d love another member of the development team.
We’re working with Design-Aware Object Oriented PHP5, and have written our own templating engine, that isn’t near as bloated, and is implemented in a pure-XML fashion.
But yes, contact me as rollercoaster397 on pretty much any IM protocol (@hotmail.com on MSN, @gmail.com on GTalk) if you’re interested. Trunk is located at https://opensvn.csie.org/traccgi/SoapBox/browser if you’d like to take a look at it. Presently, we’re at the very beginning stages of having a complete application. There’s still a large amount of work to be done before a release can be made.
