Vista on the Mac Pro with Boot Camp

Today I installed the final release of Vista on my Mac Pro with Boot Camp. I must say it is working rather well. The blue-tooth keyboard and mouse seem to be working better than in XP. Microsoft must have bumped up the bluetooth support in Vista.

There are a few issues though (and I have yet to dig for a solution) When you installed XP you had to create a drivers disk with the Boot Camp Assistant. With Vista it detects the video card and supports that however there are still several devices that are not recognized. I tried to install the Windows XP drivers but a fatal error occurred during the install (I figured it would fail). However now I need to find the Apple Vista drivers and I am not sure they even released any.

I am going to do some digging but I do think Vista runs better than XP on the Mac Pro.  The one thing in particular that I noticed and do not like is the fact that both XP and Vista only see one of the 2 processors in the machine and only 2 of the 4 GB of ram that the machine has.

I have been told that the reason it is only seeing 2GB of ram is because I have 2 sticks or ram that are 2GB each. The 32bit versions of XP and Vista will only support up to 3GB of ram. If I want to see all of the ram I will need to upgrade to the 64bit version.

hello joseph

im having a geek fest today,

i just got a new drive so i could install vista as well as xp and osX.

were the graphics really screwed up when you first booted up in vista?

also i know how to change the boot icons and rename them because every boot camp user wants this rather than untitled.

i also have 2 VERY useful links to torrents which are reduced ‘performance’ copies of xp and also one for vista ultimate. they are 32 bit also so they work
they require no installation keys because they are corperate editions.

they have been stripped of all the uneeded rubbish so they are ULTRA fast

about 60 percent faster than normal…

i have one question,

can you get speech working on mac pro?

i cant it sucks

peace

rob
