The Alexa Toolbar
I am not sure that everyone out there knows how important an Alexa ranking is for a website owner. Alexa assigns a number to your site based on the amount of traffic that hits your site. The way they track this is by the users that have the Alexa Toolbar installed. If you are using IE they have made an official Alexa Toolbar that will show you information about a site when you visit it. When I am visiting a site it is great to know what the Alexa ranking is along with the Google page rank. The more people who install these toolbars (the FireFox/Flock is tiny for taking up space) the more it will track the sites and calculate a more accurate ranking. Please install one of these plugins and help me and other website owners get the ranking they deserve.
I am on the mac and use FireFox, there just happens to be an extension that shows both values in the status bar that I love. It’s called Search Status and as i mentioned it shows the Google page rank and Alexa traffic rank right in the status bar.
Also for all of the Flock users out there don’t forget that almost all FireFox extensions are convertable using Flock’d but there is even an extension that will install an option in the context menu so all you have to do is right click an install link for an extension and select Flock’d and it will convert it for you.
