Free WordPress Development Environment
Over the years I have been running this site and never even really had to think about WordPress or a development environment. Lately I have been looking at plugin development and nothing I have been reading has even once mentioned a sandbox or development environment.

CampusLIVE Hack-A-Thon
Over the last few weeks there has been quite a bit of new development being done on the
CampusLIVE!site and Jared thought it would be a good idea to give developers a break from the every-day coding. He decided that today we would take a 3 hour block of time from 9am – 12pm and see what we could brainstorm with a new technology he found. We plan to do this about every 2 weeks so things will be getting very interesting atCampusLIVE! -
Site Downtime Caused by Plugin
To all of my readers who noticed my site was showing the 404 page for every page on the site I apologize. The issue is now fixed. I noticed the issue this morning and started to diagnose the issue. It appears that a plugin I recently installed caused the issues.

Image Previews on iPad in the Field
Over the last few weeks I have been trying to figure out how I could take my iPad with me when taking pictures and have my image previews after each shot show on the iPad instead of the tiny LCD screen on my Canon EOS 60D. I truly believe this would be a great feature for photographers as they could preview the image on a larger screen and instantly know if they got a nice shot and if not allow them to take another.

Bose Companion 5 and Ubuntu (SOLVED)
For the last few days I have been trying very hard to get my Bose Companion 5 speakers to work with Ubuntu that I have installed on my MacBook Pro. However it seemed like the OS just did not see the speakers when I went to the audio output options. Ubuntu only seemed to see the built in card and after a bit of Googling I found that there were quite a few people who were having problems with this.

Google Voice added to GMail
I believe this will be one really good feature of GMail, the ability to send and receive phone calls through your computer while you are logged into your email account (available to USA only). Since I use Google Voice this is automatically added to my GMail account for use.

ZF: Creating RESTful Applications
Over the last few days I have been trying to use the Zend_Rest_Controller along with the Zend_Rest_Route to make a RESTful application for an API that I am working on. It is very easy to get things setup with these components and I will cover that now. You might be asking yourself why do I have to use both components, why is it not rolled into one nice component. The answer is really basic and if you look at the source code for the Zend_Rest_Controller you will see that it is solely an abstract class that defines the methods required for use with the Zend_Rest_Route.

Looking into TomTom led to a detour
While I was looking into the TomTom POI’s I started to wonder about incorporating Google Maps into a Cocoa Application that could handle creating custom POI sets for my device.

A CarPC, Why would you want that?
Since late 2000 I have been thinking of building a CarPuter (as they are called) however the costs were expensive. I needed to take the time to plan out how I would install the system, modify the vehicle as needed, etc. It was just more than I wanted to take on financially and time wise.
